Walt Disney Studios is big winner at 3-D Creative Arts Awards

Walt Disney Studios was the big winner Wednesday evening at the second annual International 3-D Society’s 3-D Creative Arts Awards, presented at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
Disney won five ‘Lumiere’ awards, as well as the People’s Choice Award for favorite 3-D movie-animation for ‘Toy Story 3.’
‘Tron: Legacy’ was named live-action 3-D feature of the year, with DreamWorks Animation’s ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ earning best animated 3-D feature of the year. ‘Tron’ also won for best 3-D stereography-live action, while ‘Dragon’ won for best 3-D stereography-animated.
Pixar’s ‘Day & Night’ won best short 3-D motion picture/narrative; ‘Hubble 3-D’ received best 3-D documentary.
The award for outstanding achievement of 2-D to 3-D converted feature went to Disney’s ‘Alice in Wonderland.’ Winning the award for 3-D live event was ‘Black Eyed Peas 3-D Live.’ And Disney’s ‘Tangled’ won best 3-D scene of the year.
20th Century Fox’s ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader’ was the recipient of the People’s Choice Award for favorite 3-D live-action movie.
Several other awards were handed out on Wednesday evening:
Lenny Lipton won the Century Award for lifetime achievement, while James Cameron earned the Harold Lloyd Award.
The 3-D video game honors went to ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’; the Beijing Olympics took home the 3-D excellence in TV footage award.
The 3-D television award: entertainment/music went to ‘Dance, Dance, Dance,’ and Jay Baruchel earned the 3-D talent award as Hiccup in ‘How to Train Your Dragon.’
