Phylicia Rashad to receive Pan African film fest award

The Tony Award-winning and Emmy-nominated actress Phylicia Rashad, who is best known as Claire Huxtable on the classic ‘The Cosby Show,’ will be honored at the Pan African Film Festival with its highest honor, the Lifetime Achievement Award, for her stage, TV and film work.
Rashad will receive her award during the Night of Tribute on Feb. 17 at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles.
Other honorees include:

Beah Richards Rising Star Award: Tessa Thompson
Canada Lee Award: Lamman Rucker
Community Leadership Award: L.A. City Councilwoman Jan Perry
The Africa Channel’s Creative Achievement Award: Hlomla Dandala
The Africa Channel’s Literary Achievement Award: Ngugi wa Thiong’o
