Earnings at Eastman Kodak fell 58% for the first quarter of 1986 as the company began to feel the cost of its work force reduction program, a Kodak spokesman said. The earnings decline followed Kodak’s first-ever quarterly loss in the final quarter of 1985, which it blamed on its court-ordered withdrawal from the instant photography market.
