Thunderstorms riding a wave of cold air rumbled across the Midwest, bombarding Nebraska with baseball-size hail and forcing the evacuation of more than 100 people from a flooded mobile home park in Iowa. Showers and thunderstorms stretched from the southern Great Lakes into Nebraska. Showers also dotted the upper Great Lakes and the rest of the Plains. In Iowa, 4 1/2 inches of rain fell at Adel, while 3 1/2 inches of rain drenched Des Moines.
