Trackers of Cattle Rustlers Shot, Speared in Tanzania

DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania — Thirty-seven people tracking stolen cattle were shot or speared to death, and an unknown number were injured in a clash with villagers in northern Tanzania, the government radio reported Wednesday.
The broadcast said that the victims had been following the tracks of 60 head of cattle stolen last week. As they approached the village of Gibaso last weekend, they were set upon by armed men.
