Derek Jones Signs to Play for Fullerton

Derek Jones, a 6-foot 7-inch, 195-pound forward from Long Beach, has signed a national letter of intent to attend Cal State Fullerton.
Jones played the 1983-84 and 1984-85 seasons at Long Beach City College and led the Metro Conference in scoring as a sophomore with an average of 21 points per game. He signed a letter of intent with Arizona, but when he could not meet admission requirements, he sat out last year and obtained an Associate of Arts degree at Long Beach City College and then decided to attend Fullerton.
“Derek is an outstanding offensive player,” Titan Coach George McQuarn said. “He gives us another scoring threat, which is something we need to make up for the loss of Kevin Henderson and Kerry Boagni.”
