Robbie Katzaroff, Los Alamitos High School’s versatile scholar-athlete, signed a national letter of intent Wednesday to play baseball at UCLA.
Katzaroff set an Orange County record with 51 hits in a single season and had a 27-game hitting streak last season. He extended that streak into the Griffins’ opening three games this year.
This season, Katzaroff is third in the county in runs scored (27) and fourth in hits (34) in his third year as a varsity starter.
Last fall, he set a county record with 93 receptions in one season to lead the Griffins to the Empire League football title. Katzaroff was honored by the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame as one of the county’s top scholar-athletes with a 3.4 grade-point average.
The senior also excelled in soccer and earned second-team All-Southern Section honors.
