Kennedy Badminton Team Advances

Sam Yoo and Michelle Nook, who each won two singles matches, teamed to win their mixed-doubles match Thursday to lift the Kennedy High School badminton team to a 10-9 win over Workman in a Southern Section 3-A first-round match played at Workman High School. The Irish improved to 12-4 and advance to Tuesday’s quarterfinals.

In 4-A action:

Estancia 12, Westminster 7--Minh Dang and Huy Nguyen each won two singles matches, and the girls doubles team of Thi Vuong and Van Pham also won two matches to help the Eagles defeat the Lions in first-round action at Estancia High School. The Eagles, Sea View League co-champions with Costa Mesa, improved to 14-1.
