George St. Johns, administrative assistant to state Sen. Ed Davis (R-Valencia), announced Friday that he plans to seek the West San Fernando Valley seat on the Los Angeles Board of Education recently vacated by David Armor.
St. Johns, 40, is a former member of the executive committee of the Republican State Central Committee and a one-time special assistant to former Lt. Gov. Robert Finch. St. Johns is a graduate of California State University, Northridge. He lives in Woodland Hills with his wife and two children.
“I am not an angry parent. I am deeply troubled and I am concerned, but our district needs more than just hostility and criticism in leadership,” St. Johns said. “It needs answers and reason, and I hope to provide this.”
The West Valley seat on the Los Angeles school board became open when Armor resigned to take a job with the Department of Defense in Washington.
On Monday, the school board is scheduled to decide how to fill the three years in Armor’s unexpired term.
