Two Laughlin Park Houses Listed for Sale

Two of Laughlin Park’s landmark properties, the former W. C. Fields and Deanna Durbin estates, are for sale for $1.3 million and $1.95 million, respectively.
Fields was a tenant, never the owner of the DeMille Drive House. In the early 1980s, comedienne Lily Tomlin purchased the house and refurbished it in pink, inside and out. Realtor Lynn Beavers says the upstairs rooms have been reworked to make a master suite with large closets, as well as two baths and another bedroom. The house was built in 1919 for Frank L. Wood by architect William M. Clarke.
The next year, William J. Dodd built a house on Lynwood Drive. When child actress Deanna Durbin bought it in the 1930s, she purchased the easement behind the house, which contained the original park vegetation and fountains.
Just under one acre, the property, owned by Steve Lenci, is considered the most lavish in the private park. Page Wingate Realtors has the listing.
