MORGAN HILL, Calif. — Three men were killed in the crash of a small plane on a remote mountain ridge southeast of here, authorities said Sunday.
Residents in Silver City, N.M., said they believed their relatives had been aboard the single-engine Mooney Executive 21 aircraft. Missing were Silver City residents David Lane, Thomas Foy Jr. and Jimmie M. (Tuck) Grimes. Lane is district attorney for the 6th Judicial District. Foy is the son of state Rep. Thomas Foy, and Grimes is the manager of the Grant County Airport.
Coroner Tom Tallan said no information would be released until today.
The Sheriff’s Department said the plane hit a slope, slid backwards and turned upside down. The pilot appeared to have lost his way in fog and rain, deputies said.
