The Nuclear Disaster in the Soviet Union
Been feeling depressed about the nuclear disaster in Russia? Times of crisis are also times of opportunity. As we find it more and more difficult to ignore the possibility of a nuclear disaster here in North America, we experience feelings of depression, anxiety, and fear. We can take this opportunity to join with others in putting an end to the nuclear threat, or we can deny and repress the feelings, going about our lives as if nothing were wrong with the state of things.
The latter choice says, in effect, that we are willing to pay the price of possible destruction of the world, as we know it, in order to avoid dealing with changing to a soft technology path for producing energy. It’s as simple as that.
