Don Nelson made a small gamble and it paid big dividends.
Nelson’s undersized lineup featuring Paul Pressey, Ricky Pierce and Sidney Moncrief, made the big plays to give the Milwaukee Bucks a 109-104 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers Monday night in Philadelphia.
The victory evened the series at 2-2 heading back to Milwaukee for Game 5 Wednesday night.
“The small lineup was the big difference for us,” Nelson said. “It has been good for us all season.
“It gave us a different look, a different tempo that we needed because of their quickness. It was a big gamble because the 76ers are such a good rebounding team.”
Pressey scored all of his 17 points in the second half, including nine in the final period. Pierce had eight of his 19 in the last quarter.
Moncrief, playing despite a badly bruised heel, scored 13 points. The Bucks have won the two games he’s been able to play in the series.
Charles Barkley had 37 points, 14 rebounds and 9 assists for the 76ers.
