A Lincoln Heights electroplating company was fined $36,000 for illegally dumping copper and nickel into the city sewer system. The firm and its owner had pleaded no contest to eight misdemeanor charges in Los Angeles Municipal Court. The charges against Builders Hardware Finishers Inc. at 1846 Sichel St. and its owner, Joe Duran, involved violations discovered in late 1984.
