45 Ships, 4,000 Troops Join in NATO Exercise

OSLO — Forty-five NATO ships and 4,000 troops left Bergen on Tuesday on maneuvers to test the transport of troops and supplies to Norway in a crisis, Norwegian military sources said.
Ships from North Atlantic Treaty Organization members Britain, Canada, Denmark, Norway, Portugal, the Netherlands, the United States and West Germany are participating in the annual nine-day exercise, they said.
