Rhode Island Republican Enters Congressional Race

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — John A. Holmes Jr., 36, Tuesday announced that he will run against Rep. Fernand J. St Germain for the state’s 1st Congressional District seat. St Germain, a Democrat, has served 13 terms in Congress. Holmes, 36, is a former state Republican Party chairman.
