Running back Walter Payton of the Chicago Bears will be the fifth athlete to appear on Wheaties’ cereal boxes.
Payton, the all-time leading rusher in the NFL, said it was “a fairy tale” to be chosen to appear on the front panel of the box. The other four are the Rev. Bob Richards, Bruce Jenner, Mary Lou Retton and Pete Rose.
