San Diego Prep Baseball : Castle Park Finds Solutions in 4-1 Victory Over Marian

Henry Monreal had been having problems with control, and the Castle Park High School baseball team had been having problems controlling a lead, according to Coach Bob Korzep. But both problems were solved Tuesday.
Monreal (4-3) pitched a three-hitter and struck out nine without walking a batter as the Trojans beat visiting Marian, 4-1, in a Metro-South Bay League game.
Castle Park (4-4, 10-8) has lost five one-run games and three in extra innings, Korzep said.
“We’ve been making that crucial error or not getting that key hit in the sixth or seventh,” Korzep said. “I think the kids are aware of it now and maybe bear down in those sixth and seventh innings.”
Dominic Quintero was 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Trojans. Marian is 2-6, 4-14.
In other Metro Conference games:
Bonita Vista 7, Montgomery 6, (10 innings)--The visiting Barons scored three runs in the top of the 10th for the win.
Sweetwater 8, Hilltop 1--Eddie Magdaleno (2-0) threw a four-hitter as the Red Devils (6-2, 9-10) beat the Lancers (2-6, 5-11). Magdaleno also was 2 for 4.
