Temple City : Trash Service Fees to Go Up

The City Council has approved a 75-cent monthly rate increase for residential refuse collection. Beginning July 1, Community Disposal Co. will raise its rates for trash pickups from single-family residences from $7.15 to $7.90, said Beverly Szabo, manager of the firm.

Rates for multiple-family dwellings also will increase 75 cents, from $7.15 to $7.90, for the first unit, and 40 cents, from $3.55 to $3.95, for each additional unit, Szabo said. Community Disposal has an exclusive contract for residential refuse collection in Temple City. Szabo said the company is entitled to an annual rate increase with approval by the city. She said the rates are increasing faster than inflation because fees at nearby landfills have increased 40% in the past two years.
