Fire Officials Investigate Arson

Officials are investigating an arson that caused an estimated $20,000 damage this week at Crescenta Valley High School.
The fire, in a bungalow used as a special-education classroom, was discovered about 2:30 a.m. Monday by sheriff’s deputies driving near the school at 4400 Ramsdell Ave. The fire was extinguished in 20 minutes.
Capt. Clarence Treat of the Los Angeles County Fire Department said investigators found evidence that the fire in the 950-square-foot wooden building was deliberately set.
“The fire was started from the outside and it looks like someone kicked a hole in the wall and started it. It was definitely an arson fire,” Treat said, adding that there are no suspects.
He said a large trash bin also had been set afire, and that there had been an attempt to start a third blaze in the building next to the special-education classroom.
