Local News in Brief : Trucks Banned From Stretch of Balboa Blvd.
Los Angeles City Council voted Wednesday to ban large trucks from Balboa Boulevard between Rinaldi Street and San Fernando Road in Granada Hills.
The action was sought by Councilman Hal Bernson, who represents the area, in response to complaints from residents about the congestion, dust and noise from trash trucks using Balboa to travel to garbage dumps in the Santa Susana Mountains.
A report to the council from its Transportation and Traffic Committee said the ban would not cause any hardship on truckers because alternate routes are available.
