Orange County College Baseball : Fullerton Loses to UCLA on Hit in 12th

Tony Scruggs singled home Todd Zeille with two out in the bottom of the 12th inning to give UCLA a 6-5 nonconference victory over Cal State Fullerton Wednesday in Jackie Robinson Stadium in Westwood.
The teams collected a total of 25 hits off 13 pitchers. Scruggs singled to center to score Zeille, who had led off the inning with a base hit. Keith Shibata (4-0) shut out the Titans during the last three innings to get the victory. Paul Johnson (1-1), the sixth pitcher used by Titan Coach Augie Garrido, took the loss.
John Joslin hit a three-run home run in the first and Bobby Holley had a two-run homer in the fourth for the Bruins (36-21). Dann Howitt was 3 for 6 with an RBI for Fullerton (36-18). The Titans were held scoreless during the last nine innings.
In a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. game:
Cal State Northridge 7, Chapman 4--The Matadors hit three home runs en route to the victory at Northridge. Jim Vatcher, Craig Burns and John Valfanz homered for Northridge. Darren Nelson was 2 for 4 with a two-run homer in the first inning for Chapman (12-17, 20-31). The Panthers had a 4-1 lead after two innings but were held scoreless from that point.
