Palm Springs Rallies in 8th to Beat Ventura

Kent Anderson scored on Pete Coachman’s one-out single to center field in the bottom of the eighth to lead Palm Springs to a 3-2 win at home Wednesday over the Ventura County Gulls.
Ventura County trailed after four innings, 2-0, but scored in the fifth when Omar Malave went home on a sacrifice fly by Eric Yelding. The Gulls tied the score in the seventh on a home run by Ken Kinnard.
Manuel Garcia (4-0), who has not allowed an earned run this season, pitched the final 2 innings to pick up the win for Palm Springs.
David Wells, who relieved Gulls starter Hugh Brinson in the sixth, suffered the loss. Wells allowed one run on two hits and struck out seven in three innings. Brinson did not allow an earned run in his five innings, striking out seven.
