A 41-year-old Pacific Beach man died of smoke inhalation after neighbors dragged him from a burning condominium early Thursday, coroner’s deputies reported.
Terry Lee Rehan was pulled from his ground-floor condominium in the 2100 block of Reed Street about 4:30 a.m. and was pronounced dead at Mission Bay Hospital about 5:20 a.m., coroner’s deputies said.
San Diego fire officials said smoldering smoking materials started the fire that killed Rehan and caused an estimated $100,000 damage. The condominium above Rehan’s was slightly damaged, but the other six condominiums in the complex were not, fire department spokesman Larry Stewart said.
