Chapman’s Gainey Transfers to Fresno St.

Mary Gainey, starting freshman point guard for the Chapman College women’s basketball team, will transfer to Fresno State next fall. Gainey, who averaged eight points and four assists a game for the Panthers (17-10) said she decided to leave Chapman after the 1985-86 season.

Gainey, a three-year starter at Mater Dei High School, will have to sit out next year. She will not become eligible until the 1987-88 season.
