Bill Whiteley, baseball coach for the past three seasons at Westminster High School, has announced his resignation, effective at the end of the season.
Whiteley said Thursday he hopes to coach baseball at the community college level. “There has been no problem at Westminster; it’s a great school,” said Whiteley, a 1973 graduate of Westminster. “It was just time for a change.”
Whiteley’s team was 15-9 in his first season, 9-13-1 in 1985 and is 15-7 with one game remaining this season.
He played baseball at Golden West College for two seasons, for one season at Pacific Christian College and graduated from Cal State Long Beach in 1979.
