A man who was shot to death outside a North Hollywood restaurant Wednesday night was identified Friday as Kurt Hirschler, 54, of Studio City, a film editor for the television series “Magnum, P.I.,” Los Angeles police reported.
Hirschler, who had been working for the show for the last two seasons, was shot once in the chest outside the Mikado Restaurant at 12600 Riverside Drive about 11:30 p.m., Lt. Ron LaRue said. He died a short time later at Medical Center of North Hollywood.
Hirschler had just left the restaurant with a woman companion, and the pair were talking in her car, LaRue said. He said a man opened the door on the passenger side, where Hirschler was sitting, and, when the film editor tried to shut the door, the man shot him once with a handgun.
