Three men posing as police officers broke into a Clairemont apartment Friday and stole more than two dozen rifles and handguns, according to San Diego Police Department spokesman Bill Robinson.
The guns, which were reportedly registered, were a collection of hunting weapons, Robinson said.
The thieves identified themselves as police officers before kicking in the front door of the apartment in the 3300 block of Cowley Way about 1 p.m. Craig Kunch, a resident, and four companions were told by the thieves to lie on the floor face down while the men ransacked the apartment.
About $300 was taken in addition to the guns, which belong to Kunch’s father, who also lives at the apartment, Robinson said.
No suspects are in custody.
