There’s No Comparison Between Joyner and Carew
- Share via
As a baseball and Angel fan, I resent the constant comparison of Wally Joyner’s home run production vs. Rod Carew’s.
When Mr. Joyner has won a batting title, a gold glove, 3,000 hits, stolen home and shown the dedication, pride, class and dignity that Mr. Carew has over the years, then let the comparisons begin. Mr. Joyner is a rookie with less than a year’s experience. He has a great swing and poise beyond his years. To compare him to Rod Carew is unjust to both. Mr. Carew was never a home run hitter, but he did the intangibles that made the Angels winners.
