SDSU Track : Bradley Breaks PCAA Record; DeSnoo Winner

Maureen Bradley of San Diego State set a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. record by winning the 10,000-meter race in 36 minutes, 46.44 seconds in the conference women’s track and field finals Friday at Fresno.
Laura DeSnoo of SDSU won the discus championship with a mark of 176 feet, 2 inches.
In preliminary heat competition, LaTanya Sheffield finished first in the 200 at 24.45 and second in the 100 at 12.02. Renee Ross won her 400 heat in 54.99.
The Aztecs trail first-place Fresno State, 30-29, in the team competition that concludes today.
The SDSU men’s team is in third place going into today’s finals of the Western Athletic Conference Championships at Provo, Utah. Host Brigham Young University is first with 80 points, Texas El Paso is second with 31 points and SDSU has 22 points.
SDSU’s Rodney Van had a personal best of 24-5 3/4 in the long jump to advance to the finals. Roe Holiday qualified third at 23-6. Andre Freeman was the leading qualifier in the 400 in 47.63 and the 200 in 21.25.
Ed Cooper also led all qualifiers in two events--the 110 hurdles in 14.19 and the 400 hurdles in 52.20.
