AirCal, the Newport Beach-based regional airline, reported Friday that it logged 159.48 million passenger miles in April, down slightly from 159.54 million passenger miles in April of last year. A revenue passenger mile, the basic measure of an airline’s volume, is one paying passenger flying one mile.
The carrier’s load factor--the percentage of seats filled by paying passengers--fell to 51.1% from 61% the previous year. The carrier’s actual number of boardings for the month rose 1.6% to 392,479 passengers from 386,299.
