Daniel Steven Jenkins, accused of killing a Los Angeles police detective hours after the officer testified against him, was sentenced to eight years in prison and fined $10,000 for the 1984 holdup of a North Hollywood movie theater manager. Jenkins, 30, was convicted on Nov. 1 of robbery with the use of a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon. A few hours after testifying against Jenkins, Police Detective Thomas C. Williams was gunned down while picking up his 6-year-old son from a Canoga Park church child-care center. Jenkins and five others face murder and conspiracy charges in the killing.
