Dennis Conner said in Honolulu that Anheuser Busch Inc. will back a campaign to recover the America’s Cup from Australia.
According to Conner, the beer company will help produce a national advertising and merchandising campaign intended to raise funds for the Sail America Foundation for International Understanding, which is sponsoring Conner’s America’s Cup Challenge ’87.
Conner’s team is training in Hawaii because conditions there most closely approximate what the American team will experience in the Indian Ocean off Fremantle, Australia, where the 1987 races are to be held.
