Welcome in France

I wish to convey a message I received from Countess Christine de Commarque. The De Commarques are on of the oldest and illustrious families in the Perigord region of France:

“Our country feels shame. How can we tell our American friends that we would have wished a hundred times that your planes fly through our skies, and even what happiness to feel ourselves on the same side as your people who defend the liberty of the world. Fortunately, we are receiving guests from your country this summer, and we will try to make them forget by all our friendliness that France did not conduct herself as an ally.”

I share this with your readers in the hope to assuage some of the ill feeling between our countries.
