Enron will shift its headquarters to Houston.

The move from Omaha will consolidate the oil and gas pipeline firm’s operating and corporate headquarters in one location, said Kenneth L. Lay, Enron chairman and chief executive. The relocation is expected to result in significant cost savings and improve management effectiveness, Lay said. The 165 employees affected will be primarily corporate staff. Enron has nearly $10 billion in assets.
