Authorities are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who died at UCI Medical Center of injuries suffered when he was struck by an auto Sunday while crossing Valley View Street south of Chapman Avenue, Police Sgt. Bruce Beauchamp said.
The victim was about 35 to 45 years old, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing 145 pounds, with a full brown beard and mustache and receding hair, Beauchamp said. The man was not in a crosswalk when he apparently walked in front of a car driven by a Garden Grove man at about 9:50 p.m., Beauchamp said.
The driver, James Callahan, 31, was booked at Orange County Jail on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, Beauchamp said.
“We’re hoping somebody can give us some information and maybe somebody will report somebody missing,” Beauchamp said.
