Greenup Cleared on 2 of 21 Counts of Molestation

Campbell Hugh Greenup, former owner of a private elementary school in Northridge, was found innocent Monday of charges he molested one girl, and the judge ordered the jury to resume deliberations today on the remaining charges concerning seven other children.
After eight days of deliberations, panel members found Greenup, 58, not guilty of two of 21 counts of lewd conduct with a child under age 14. Both counts involved alleged molestations in early 1984 of a child who had attended the Greenup Elementary School, which was closed after Greenup was arrested.
Greenup showed no emotion as the innocent verdicts were read.
Superior Court Judge David Horowitz ordered both the prosecutors and the defense not to comment on Monday’s development and told jurors to resume deliberations on the remaining 19 charges this morning.
