Local News in Brief : Woman Shot in Face Dies; Companion Held

A Canoga Park woman shot Saturday died Monday in Northridge Hospital Medical Center, authorities said.
Karen Roney, 28, was pronounced dead about 5:45 p.m., a nursing supervisor said. The victim had been shot once in the face with a handgun, Los Angeles Police Detective Paul Stewart said.
Donald A. Arcos, 37, who had lived with the victim about eight years, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of attempted murder after he called an ambulance to their residence on the 20500 block of Archwood Street about 8 a.m., Stewart said.
Arcos was being held without bail Monday, Stewart said.
