Santana Returns to Top Spot in Poll

SAN DIEGO — Santana High School took over the top spot in The Times’ San Diego County high school baseball poll, after beating former No. 1 Valhalla, 10-0, Monday.

The Sultans (19-2 overall) were ranked first earlier in the season before a 10-1 loss to Valhalla dropped them to third. Valhalla is third this week.

Sweetwater makes its first appearance in the poll at No. 8. The Red Devils (7-2, 10-10) beat No. 9 Montgomery for the second time last week, and lead the Metro-Mesa League.
