San Clemente Coach Resigns

Brian Scherbart, basketball coach at San Clemente High School for the past five seasons, announced his resignation Monday.

Scherbart, 34, had a 61-61 record in five years and led the Tritons to a playoff berth in his first season. The Tritons were 11-13 this season.

“I wanted to take one year off and do some things that I couldn’t do while I was coaching,” Scherbart said. “There’s a good chance I could get back into coaching after one year.”
