FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Gary Penrith and San Diego Police Chief Bill Kolender will hold a press conference today to announce the addition of murder suspect Billy Ray Waldon to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list.
Waldon, 33, is wanted in the shooting death of Charles Gordon Wells, 59, who was shot in the garage behind his Cleveland Avenue home on Dec. 20, 1985. The Oklahoma native is also a suspect in the slayings of Dawn Ellerman, 42, and her 13-year-old daughter, Erin, on Dec. 7. The bodies were found in the Ellermans’ burning Del Mar Heights home. Police say that the Ellermans and Wells were killed with the same .25-caliber pistol.
San Diego police have also charged Waldon with one count of arson, one count of rape, seven armed robberies, two burglaries, one count of receiving stolen property and one count of attempted murder.
Tulsa, Okla., police say that Waldon is a suspect in four robberies and assaults and one murder in the Tulsa area.
