The San Francisco 49ers offered Renaldo Nehemiah a new contract but also gave the wide receiver the option of seeking a job with another team.
Ron Stanko, attorney for the world record-holder in the 110-meter high hurdles, said the 49ers told him they would take an eighth-round draft choice in exchange.
In three seasons as a 49er backup receiver, Nehemiah caught 43 passes for 754 yards and 4 touchdowns. He spent last season on the injured reserve list, and his 49er contract expired after the season.
