Sensitive Reporting

It was with great pleasure that I write this letter in appreciation of one of your writers--Johannes Tesselaar. I have been a coach at Kennedy High for 14 years, the last 8 as the girls basketball coach. During this time, I have been associated with many writers. Very few show the respect and knowledge for girls basketball that Hans demonstrates. He also has a great feel on sensitivity for the young student-athlete.
The article that he wrote on Stacy Parson--The Golden Girl--is a fine example. Hans was able to provide Stacy with an atmosphere where she felt comfortable. Thus he was able to capture not only Stacy the athlete, but Stacy the person. Stacy is a super young lady and will attend Stanford on a scholarship next year. The faculty, parents and students of Kennedy all agree that the article captured Stacy completely.
This was our finest and most successful season at Kennedy in girls basketball. It will long be remembered by many and for many reasons. I want to thank Mr. Tesselaar and The Times for being such a large part of what will be a memorable year for all involved.
