Silicon Systems on Monday named Stephen E. Cooper president and chief operating officer.
Cooper will oversee day-to-day duties at the Tustin-based integrated circuit manufacturing firm. Carmelo J. Santoro will retain the titles of chairman and chief executive.
Santoro said that the promotion was prompted by recent second-quarter results that may signal an end to the industry downturn. Santoro said that he wants more time to plan new domestic and international business strategies.
Cooper was most recently a divisional general manager at the firm. He joined the company in 1980, after seven years as an executive at Intel Corp.
