Local News in Brief : Slain Patron of Bar Was Stabbed, Run Over
- Share via
Police on Monday said they had no suspects in the slaying of a 40-year-old Pacoima man, who apparently was stabbed several times in a Sun Valley bar, then found dead in the street after several cars had run over his body.
Officers found the victim, identified as Mario Vasquez Aldana, about 10 p.m. Sunday, lying in the street in front of El Palenque Bar in the 9200 block of San Fernando Road.
Witnesses told police that Vasquez was inside the bar when he was stabbed by an unknown assailant during an argument, Detective Robert Stemples said. However, officers who found the body were answering a report of a hit-and-run accident, Stemples said.
It is unclear how the victim came to be in the street or how long he had been there. Several passing motorists apparently ran over Vasquez before police were called, Stemples said.
