Chargers Sign 5 Free Agents; Team Now Has 6 Quarterbacks on Roster

SAN DIEGO — The Chargers announced the signing of five free agents Monday, increasing the roster to 31 free agents and a total of 100 players.
The signings included Tennessee quarterback Daryl Dickey, giving the Chargers four free-agent quarterbacks. Free agents Steve Smith, Wayne Peace and Tom Flick join veterans Dan Fouts and Mark Herrmann.
Other free agents signed Monday were Arizona State linebacker John Knight; Michigan State safety Phil Parker; Iowa nose tackle Hap Peterson and Alabama wide receiver Joe Smith.
More than 90 players, including rookies, free agents and many veterans will attend mini-camp this weekend, with two sessions Friday and Saturday and one Sunday. The entire squad will be included in another mini-camp next weekend.
