CBS sees “no possibility” of a friendly takeover.

Chairman Thomas H. Wyman told a meeting of the TV network’s affiliates that the company is not interested in such a deal. Speaking of persistent reports that New York investor Lawrence Tisch, who owns 17% of CBS, is considering a takeover attempt, Wyman said: “I do not consider that to be a risk.” Wyman said Tisch personally told him Tuesday “that there was absolutely no change in our basic understanding” relating to his buying as much as 25% of the company, “and certainly there’s no schedule as to when even that level may be achieved.”
