Two 16-year-old survivors of the Mt. Hood climbing expedition that claimed nine lives when a surprise blizzard struck have been told about the deaths of their classmates, hospital officials said in Portland, Ore. Giles Thompson and Brinton Clark were in serious condition as they recovered from last week’s ordeal. “Giles does not remember anything” about the climb, said a spokeswoman for Providence Medical Center. Thompson was also told that his legs had been amputated at mid-calf.
