A 75-year-old Garden Grove man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon after his apartment manager was shot in the jaw, police said. A motive in the Monday night shooting has not been established, Garden Grove Police Sgt. Bruce Beauchamp said. John Jacob Hubel, of 12911 Dale St., was taken into custody at his apartment after neighbors reported the shooting. Loren Caton, 55, who manages the large apartment complex, was reported in critical but stable condition at UCI Medical Center. Neighbors told police that Hubel stood outside Caton’s apartment and fired a single shot from a rifle into the manager’s quarters.
