5 Anti-Nuclear Protesters Held at Nevada Test Site

LAS VEGAS — Department of Energy security guards and local lawmen Tuesday arrested five members of a Colorado-based anti-nuclear group for trespassing more than 12 miles onto the sprawling Nevada Test Site.
The five, who had infiltrated the facility on dirt bikes and on foot, were spotted by guards patrolling in a helicopter. They will be charged with misdemeanor trespass, officials said.
The four men and one women, members of the Rocky Mountain Peace Center in Boulder, Colo., were protesting a nuclear test believed to be scheduled for later this week, a spokesman for the group said.
The protest is the latest in a series by peace activists in recent months.
